Beethoven’s Third Symphony!

Student Life invited the entire St. John’s College Community to attend The Lensic’s Heroic Beethoven concert featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 Eroica on Sunday, September 22nd at 3:00pm. Tickets were donated to the college by ProMusica and The Lensic Performing Arts Center!  Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony is particularly significant work to the college because everyone studies the piece sophomore year in the music tutorial. We learn to read the music, to listen with a different ear, and we get to work together to understand Beethoven’s genius.

The season opens on September 21 and 22 with HEROIC BEETHOVEN featuring Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3, “Eroica.” Rounding out the program is Julia Adolphe’s shimmering Shiver and Bloom and Erich Korngold’s film-inspired Violin Concerto with Colin Jacobsen as the soloist.

Students, faculty, and staff were in full attendance. 160 community members of St. John’s College attended the performance yesterday! It was great to see familiar faces in the crowd, including new freshman, seniors and the Dean.

We are all looking forward to our next community event!
