Each summer here in Santa Fe, the St. John’s College athletic field serves as concert venue, dance hall, and picnic spot all in one every Wednesday evening for Music on the Hill! St. John’s has hosted these concerts, free to members of the St. John’s community and the public, for thirteen years now, but this was my first summer experiencing them. They’re the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening in Santa Fe!

Performing artists this summer range from local New Mexico jazz and salsa artists to Gullah music from South Carolina. In addition to picnicking, audience members can enjoy food and beverages from several local food trucks. I personally head straight for the ice cream! St. John’s also does a Great Book giveaway during each intermission, and someone from admissions is always on hand to talk about the Program with anyone who is interested.

Music on the Hill has definitely become one of my favorite events here in Santa Fe. If you find yourself here on a Wednesday this summer, you should definitely check it out, and don’t forget to stop by the admissions tent to say hi! Free admission, great music and great company combine for a party that can’t be beat. We hope to see you there!
